The Gavin Petrie Band is getting prepared to celebrate our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Our band began in the spring of 2006 in the band room at Sweet Home Middle School. 3 teachers making an attempt to have some fun playing music on the side. Then 3 became 4 and The GPB was truly born. It has been the same 4 musicians ever since and we are so proud of what we have created! Add an amazing guitar player to the mix and the rest is history

Hear the Music
Our original songs are a raw blend of jazz, funk, and rock. We like to explore the space in our music, often experimenting with dynamics and tempos and bringing our unique energy and voice to every song. No two performances are ever the same, which keeps it fresh for the band and for the audience. Our influences include, among others: Medeski Martin and Wood, John Scofield. Aretha Franklin, and Phish.
Past and Present
We have established ourselves as a presence in the Buffalo music scene since 2006. We play regular shows at McGarret’s on Elmwood and have played at most other venues, including Nietzsche’s, Mr. Goodbar, Water Street Landing, Mohawk Place, Club Infinity, and Mohawk Place. Some highlights of our many shows are opening up three times for EOTO (members of The String Cheese Incident) and being asked to open for Bruce Hornsby. We frequently have guest musicians sit in with us for select gigs. Past guests include Joe Baudo, Dave Schiavone, Corey Kertzie, Zack Mikida, Steve Parisi, and Matt Felski.
The Future
We have plans to capture the energy and spontaneity of our live performances in the studio. We also look forward to branching out into new markets outside of the Buffalo area.
