A cross-country move\, change of perspective\, and fresh outlook on life were catalysts that also steered Morrow to cross the threshold on a new sound.\nMake no mistake\, that’s exactly what Southern Boogie represents — raw\, Texas-bred southern rock that sounds exactly like what it is: Sam Morrow\, confidently evolving.\n“Doors opening and closing is definitely a constant theme of the record\,” Morrow says. “It’s not only ending of a relationship\, and a change of location\, but my life was completely changing.”\nFor years\, Morrow has made records shaped by a period spent trying to reinvent himself in California and partially inspired by the new neighbors he suddenly found himself surrounded by. His earlier albums — Concrete & Mud\, Gettin’ By On Gettin’ Down\, and On The Ride Here — earned praise from NPR and Rolling Stone for their swampy blend of country funk\, and roadhouse blues.\nAnd while those records were a huge part of his life. They also lined up to a time and place that he was leaving behind.\nSouthern Boogie is what happens when you shed expectations. Recorded mostly live\, in Austin\, with producer Jonathan Tyler\, the sessions were stripped-down and analog: two guitars\, bass\, keys\, drums. All tube amps. No click track. No safety net.\n“Jonathan got it before I even explained it\,” Morrow says. “We just wanted it to sound gritty and raw. Like a band in a room\, because that’s what it is.”\nThe result is unapologetically guitar driven. Straight-ahead southern rock with a Texas backbone — ZZ Top’s grit and groove without trying to sound like anyone but himself.\nThat brand of honesty didn’t come easy. The last few years brought its share of hard resets. After over a decade in Los Angeles\, Morrow felt something pulling him away. It wasn’t just the expense or the grind of touring from the West Coast. It was deeper than that.\n“I just knew I didn’t want to be there anymore\,” Morrow explains. “Both careerwise and personally it felt like a smart move.”\nRelocating to Nashville gave him clarity. He’s happier now. More grounded. The restless energy that defined his earlier work has given way to something looser\, more self-assured.”I’m the happiest I’ve ever been\,” Morrow says. “And I think that shows on the record. It’s playful. It doesn’t take itself too seriously.”\nThat newfound sense of unbridled optimism pervades Boogie’s nine tracks\, unlocked in no small part by a new relationship. After 15 years apart\, Morrow unexpectedly reconnected with his high school sweetheart\, ultimately falling in love and getting married.\n“South Texas Women” is Morrow’s love letter to her — a song about realizing “they just don’t make them like they do in South Texas.” Meanwhile\, “Wedding Ring” celebrates the certainty of finding the right person.\nThe new record swaggers. It also has heart. Sometimes both at once.\n“Cruisin'” begs the listener to turn it up and hit the gas\, capturing the freedom of rolling down the highway when you can’t see eye to eye with your partner. “Saturday Night” is a satirical rocker about a guy who feels invincible and owns the night. “In The Bag” offers a clear-eyed look at the fleeting high of cocaine. “Put It in a Song” speaks to the healing power of songwriting itself — good or bad\, it all goes into the song.\n“I just want people to listen to this and have a good time\,” Morrow says. “Don’t take shit too seriously. That’s kind of my mantra.”\nMorrow grew up in Houston absorbing ZZ Top\, punk\, and hip-hop before landing in rehab as a teenager. He found sobriety in Los Angeles and stayed there for over a decade\, building a career and a sound. But the move to Nashville and the new album all signal the same thing: his discordant era is over.\nThis is chapter two.\n“I’ve been looking for my sound for a long time\,” Morrow says. “Rock ‘n’ roll just feels like me. The most me possible.” After years of searching\, Sam Morrow quit looking for approval. Southern Boogie is what’s on the other side — loud\, honest\, and exactly where he is supposed to be.

Other performers include the Kensingtons (the Sportsmens Americana Music Foundation 2018 Band of the Year)\, Kurts Back (Classic Rock and Alternative music from all era’s of music)\, Flashback (Rock and Roll band specializing in tunes from the 60’s through the 90’s)\, and The Trash Pandas 716 (High energy classic covers). Baptized By The Blaze was the story of Ramey’s journey through the fire\, a harrowing passage toward healing and empowerment. Villain Era is firmly rooted in her own reckoning; it doesn’t ask for permission\, it kicks the door wide open. \n“This album is the ‘healed’ me\,” Ramey says. “I didn’t know how to have boundaries because I was such a people pleaser. When you live your life that way\, you lose sight of who you really are. I’ve spent the last few years finding my authentic self\, reclaiming my identity. The title track\, ‘Welcome To My Villain Era\,’ is me saying I’m not going to suffer fools anymore. I’m not compromising anymore. If my boundaries offend you\, I’ll happily play the villain in that story.” \nArmed with that conviction and a new batch of songs\, Ramey left the South for the first time to record in Los Angeles with two-time Grammy-nominated producer Eric Corne. Together\, they built a soundscape as cinematic as it is cathartic. Ramey\, whose fans have taken to calling her “The Woman In Black” and “the Wednesday Addams of country music\,” told Corne she wanted the album to sound like Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn had risen from the grave to score a Quentin Tarantino film. Corne assembled a powerhouse band to help her pull it off\, including Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings) on bass\, Eugene Edwards (Dwight Yoakam) and Chris Masterson (Steve Earle\, The Mastersons\, The Wallflowers) on guitar\, Eleanor Whitmore (Steve Earle & The Dukes\, The Mastersons) on fiddle\, Kevin Brown on drums\, Boo Bernstein (Emmylou Harris\, Dwight Yoakam) on pedal steel\, and Haley Spence Brown (The Doohickeys) on backing vocals. \n“He didn’t just listen to me\, he heard me\,” Ramey says of Corne. “The musicians were equally respectful of what my vision was\, and they went above and beyond. It was the most collaborative\, emboldening recording experience I’ve ever had.” \nThe result is Villain Era: ten spaghetti western–meets–honky tonk vignettes\, penned solely by Ramey\, laced with grit\, gallows humor\, and emotional precision.  \nWith the first notes of opener “We Ride at Dawn\,” Ramey puts her boots on the ground and reclaims her territory. A callback to “King of the Ashes” from her 2020 LP Shallow Graves\, the song rises from the rubble with reverb\, ghostly pedal steel\, and the promise of revenge from the women who survived. On “Scattered and Smothered\,” Ramey trades the battlefield for a Waffle House booth at 2 a.m.\, where heartbreak meets hangover in a haze of regret. “Well I’m a hot mess\, I must confess / Ever since he brought up takin’ next steps / And my drunk ass needs some hash browns and scrambled eggs\,” she sings\, As patrons fight\, chairs fly\, and late-night shenanigans ensue in the background\, our heroine is lost in thought\, hoping the grease soaks up the memories of the night she’s attempting to put in her rearview.  \nThe tone turns bittersweet on “Crying in My Lingerie\,” a deceptively upbeat breakup song that captures the loneliness of a woman who’s realizing her marriage is over. Doing her best to fan the flames of something long since gone\, she drowns her sorrows in boxed wine. Dressed in the now-meaningless symbols of desire and devotion\, she realizes she’s become a divorcee in waiting.  \nThroughout Villain Era\, Ramey explores what it means to step fully into oneself after years of just trying to survive. “There’s a lot of freedom in knowing yourself\,” she says. “It makes you feral. But in these times\, joy is resistance. We should be having some fun\, too.”  \nSaving Country Music once wrote\, “Many of the women in country music these days love to sing about lighting stuff on fire to symbolically tease their empowerment. With India Ramey\, you think she’ll actually haul off and do it.” It’s an apt description for an artist who doesn’t just tell stories of strength\, she lives them out loud. \nWith six studio albums under her belt\, Ramey continues to be one of country music’s fiercest truth-tellers. Her 2017 breakout Snake Handler landed her on Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.” Her 2020 “post-apocalyptic western” album\, Shallow Graves\, earned international recognition\, debuting at #6 on the Euro Americana Chart. DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nMarshall Crenshaw \nWednesday\, October 28\, 2026 5pm Doors\, 7pm Show \n$40.00 + Online fee \n \n \n  \nBorn in 1953 in Detroit\, Michigan\, Marshall Crenshaw learned to tune a guitar correctly at\nage ten and has been trying ever since. His first big break came in 1978 playing John\nLennon in “Beatlemania”\, first as an understudy in New York\, then in the West Coast\ncompany\, followed by a national touring company. Removing himself from that situation in\nFeb. 1980\, Marshall settled in New York City. Enthralled by the hyper-diverse musical\nculture of the City\, and the local Rock scene in particular\, Marshall formed a Rock and Roll\nband with brother Robert on drums and Chris Donato on bass. \n  \nAfter crossing paths with the great and legendary Alan Betrock\, Marshall recorded his\ndebut single “Something’s Gonna Happen” for Betrock’s Shake Records label; at nearly the\nsame time\, legendary Rockabilly singer Robert Gordon’s recording of Marshall’s “Someday\nSomeway” was released as a single on the RCA label. These two records simultaneously\nbroke big on New York’s WNEW-FM\, causing Marshall and his trio’s local popularity to\nexplode. \n  \nAnd so began a career that’s spanned four decades\, 13 albums\, film and TV appearances\n(Buddy Holly in “La Bamba”) and thousands of live performances\nMarshall formed his current touring band in 2022\,featuring guitarist\,\nmulti-instramentalist and record producer Fernando Perdomo\,\nbassist and singer-songwriter Derrick Anderson\,\nand drummer Mark Ortmann\, founding member of the legendary Bottle Rockets. \n  \nOf his City Winery New York show last fall Infocus Visions Music & Arts Magazine hailed\,\n“Marshall Crenshaw live is an experience in itself. Twenty years on the road. “My own weariness amazes me\,” as Bob Dylan sings to his Tambourine Man. I feel ya\, Bob. But the depth of my gratitude amazes me too. I’m humbled by the countless gifts of fanship and friendship throughout the past two decades. I would say it’s been a dream\, except I never could have dreamt up most of it. I’ve shared stages and drinks in hotel rooms with my heroes\, met children named after me\, made friendships rooted in music from Auckland to the Arctic Circle\, performed on trains\, on boats\, for Wall Street men in tuxes and for the muddy denizens of a musk ox farm… Not bad for a lonely rambler girl from Idaho. It was always a nebulous gut feeling that got the show on the road\, and so it is now but in reverse. A gut feeling is telling me to get off the road\, at least for now. After 2026\, touring and I will part ways for a year\, maybe two\, maybe fifty…it’s hard to say at this point. I do hope to keep performing in some capacity. Maybe come see me of a weeknight in some Boise dive\, playing for potatoes? Or strumming the guitar for a handful of fellow meditators as we contemplate the Dharma and the temporary nature of all things. I need some time for a new exploration\, to try to be the kind of mother I want to be\, and to stop moving long enough “to let my soul catch up with me\,” as my grandma Jeanne used to say. Who knows what will come of that? Maybe on some jingle-jangle morning I’ll come following the next great dream\, rested and ready to go anywhere. But until then\, suffice it to say…thank you.
