SUMMARY:The Soap Girls - The Cave
DESCRIPTION:The Cave presents \nThe Soap Girls  \nWednesday\, June 17\, 2026 $20.00 + Online Fee \n6pm Doors\, 7pm Show \nThe SoapGirls are a French-born\, South African-raised alternative rock duo consisting of sisters Noemie “Mie” Debray (guitar\, vocals) and Camille “Mille” Debray (bass\, vocals). Distinguished by their “Revolt Rock” sound and a strictly independent “DIY” ethos\, the sisters are the sole architects of their career—writing\, arranging\, and producing 100% of their musical catalogue\, management\, and visual identity themselves. \nEarly Career and Autonomy\nThe duo first gained public attention as child street performers in Cape Town\, singing and selling handmade soap to benefit local hospitals—an origin that provided both their name and their reputation for social action. Their international breakthrough occurred in 2009 with the song “Boys Boys Boys\,” which featured on a Japanese compilation disc and sparked global interest. This momentum led to a major-label contract with Universal Music South Africa and high-profile television appearances\, including performing as guest artists on Idols SA (Top 10). \nFollowing the success of their Number 1 debut album Xperience (2011) and four Top 5 singles\, the sisters made the pivotal decision to leave the major-label system to reclaim their creative voice. Since then\, they have operated entirely independently\, rejecting outside writers and producers to maintain an unfiltered artistic vision. \nCareer Milestones and Global Reach\nThe SoapGirls have built a global empire from the ground up\, known for an exhausting touring schedule that often exceeds 100 dates per year. \n\n\nMedia Impact: The band has reached a global media audience of over 200 million. They have been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine\, Bass Magazine\, Classic Rock\, Guitar World\, Vive Le Rock\, and Louder Than War.\n\nTelevision & Broadcasting: In addition to their early Idols appearance\, they have been featured on Camden Live TV and numerous television programs across the UK and South Africa. Their music is a staple on BBC Radio\, Planet Rock\, and RTE.\n\nStage Highlights: They have headlined world-class venues including Womb (Tokyo)\, Melkweg (Amsterdam)\, and Camden Assembly (London). In 2025\, they headlined the Motoblot Festival in Chicago and toured as the primary support for Wednesday 13.\n\nThe Rebel DNA Era: In 2026\, the duo launched the Rebel DNA album cycle\, written and produced entirely by the sisters\, accompanied by an extensive world tour across the UK\, Europe\, Japan\, and the United States.

SUMMARY:The Nighthawks - The Cave
DESCRIPTION:The Cave presents \nThe Nighthawks \nSunday\, June 7\, 2026 $25.00 + Online Fee \n3pm Doors\, 4pm Showtime \n \n  \n \n  \nThe Nighthawks\n“Established 1972” \nVizzTone 2022\n“Established 1972” by The Nighthawks\,is an album that represents 50 years of Washington DC’s road warriors going strong. \nOn this landmark anniversary\, founder\, lead singer and harpmaster Mark Wenner is still at the helm\, while drummer Mark Stutso\,guitarist Dan Hovey and bassist Paul Pisciotta all share vocals and songwriting\, making this lineup one of the strongest ever. Decades of gigs and countless rabid fans have earned them the name “The Best Bar Band In The World.” More than a bar band or blues band\, as they’re frequently labeled\, this is a band that played with Carl Perkins in addition to Muddy Waters. \nIn March 2020\, with a brand-new recording to promote\, The Nighthawks did something previously unthinkable: They stopped in the middle of a Florida tour and drove home. Like so many other people\, the band members found themselves out of work as the coronavirus swept the country. Itching to play\, The Nighthawks found a couple of spaces large enough to stay apart while woodshedding new material. Previously\, the process had been a streamlined one: The band would rough out a dozen new tunes in an afternoon and perform them every night for a year or two before recording. But now there was time\, tons of it. Weeks turned into months. \nProduced by the Nighthawks and longtime compadre David Earl\, they took advantage of the pandemic slowdown to hunker down in Earl’s Severn Sound Studios in Annapolis\, Maryland and crank out fourteen new tracks in classic Nighthawks style. \nDan Hovey wrote a very relevant rocker\, “You Seem Distant.” Mark Stutso followed with a full blast “Coming and Going.” Florida friend Colin Kenny\, a.k.a. Raiford Starke\, wrote the soulful “West Memphis” and the band stylistically took it to Memphis. Stutso came up with “Gas Station Chicken” and everyone contributed to bringing in the funk. Hovey added three more: “Houseband\,” “Fuss and Fight\,” and the acoustic delight “Driving.” In between are British pub rock monster Gariant Watkins’ “Nobody”; Jimmy Reed’s “Take it Easy\,” featuring producer David Earl contributing the Eddie Taylor licks on guitar; Eddie Hinton’s version of Sam Cook’s “I’ll Come Running Back”; John Hammond’s version of Mose Allison’s “Ask Me Nice”; a wild version of the reggae classic “Johnny Too Bad”; an outtake rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Ain’t That Lovin’ You”; a Hillbilly interpretation of the Coasters’ “Run Red Run”; and half a dozen others that fell by the wayside. They’d play\, record\, rearrange\, and re-record til they got them just right. \nIn the tradition they set forth on Rock and Roll\, the band’s debut 1974 recording and mission statement\, the material is not bound by genre other than the widest range of American Roots Music.

SUMMARY:Run Katie Run - The Cave
DESCRIPTION:The Cave presents \nRun Katie Run \nSunday\, May 31\, 2026 3pm Doors\, 4pm Showtime \n$15.00 + Online Fee \n \n  \n \n  \nRun Katie Run is a high-energy roots-rock and Americana outfit known for their soaring harmonies\, driving rhythms\, and raw\, honest storytelling. Fronted by a powerhouse vocal presence and backed by a tight-knit group of musicians\, the band has built a reputation for live performances that feel both like a massive celebration and an intimate conversation.Blending the grit of classic rock with the polished sensibilities of modern folk-pop\, Run Katie Run creates a sound that is uniquely their own—one that refuses to be boxed into a single genre. Their latest studio effort\, Red Handed\, marks a bold evolution for the band. The album dives deep into the complexities of human connection\, the weight of secrets\, and the liberation of the truth. Featuring the band’s signature multi-part harmonies and a more expansive sonic palette\, Red Handed captures the energy of their live show while pushing their songwriting into new\, vulnerable territory. Beyond the stage and the studio\, the band has invited fans into their inner circle with their new YouTube series\, My Best Friends’ House. Part musical session\, part behind-the-scenes documentary\, the series captures the band in their most natural element—collaborating\, laughing\, and performing stripped-down versions of their tracks in a cozy\, living-room setting. It’s a testament to the genuine friendship that fuels the music and a gift to fans who want to see the creative process unfold in real-time. Whether they are headlining festivals or filming in a living room\, Run Katie Run remains committed to one thing: making music that moves people.

SUMMARY:Chris Duarte Group - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nChris Duarte Group \nWednesday\, May 13\, 2026 7pm \n$20.00 + Online fee \n \n  \n \n  \nTo classify Chris Duarte simply as a Blues Man is an understatement.  In his own words\, “rockin’ blues” or ”punk blues” describes him best.  “Ferocious blues” also fits.  Legend has it that Chris will play so hard that his fingers bleed in a set.  The legend is true.  Photos attest. \n  \nChris Duarte is a road warrior playing more than 150 dates a year.  As well\, Chris has headlined major festivals and clubs throughout the US\, Canada and Europe. \n  \nChris is a savant\, a sorcerer of tone\, a master at channeling the spirits and sounds of great musicians of our past\, while remaining completely recognizable in his own sound.  He has shared his stage with many of the greatest musicians of our time as well as the multitude of “young lions” and local musicians he meets on the road.  From his many years as a side man in Austin\, he easily changes roles from front to side\, graciously allowing all to share the conversation of the jam. \n  \nChris Duarte’s music is ever changing.  In many interviews\, he has said “Music must evolve.”  His own early offerings often become magical journeys into changing tempo and jazzy interludes before returning to their core.  With such a vast catalog of recordings\, there are no two shows alike.  Every set list is different\, and each song may be offered distinctly\, based on the feel of a show and the audience.  For those reasons\, loyal fans often return to a Chris Duarte show again and again\, and always walk away awed and satisfied to have witnessed such a legendary\, but humble guitarist. \n  \nThe Chris Duarte Group emerged on the scene out of Austin\, Texas in the early 90’s and gained notoriety after wowing a packed room of industry insiders at the South X Southwest convention. In the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s passing\, Duarte quickly gained a National reputation as young man imbued with a playing style comparable at times to the late guitarist. After fielding interest from a number of labels\, Duarte signed to Silvertone Records and his debut album “Texas Sugar/Strat Magik” reportedly sold in excess of 100\,000 units in the United States\, no small feat for a blues/rock guitarist. This coupled with Duarte’s strong commitment to touring\, was the impetus for Chris’ winning the “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s 1995 Reader’s Poll. He also finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category that year behind legends Eric Clapton\, Buddy Guy and B.B. King.

SUMMARY:The Travesties & Canela The Big Easy in Buffalo Local Series - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nThe Travesties & Canela\nThe Big Easy in Buffalo Local series\nSportsmen’s Tavern\nThursday April 30\, 5pm doors\, 7pm show\n$15 \n \n  \nThe Travesties (garage folk) & Canela (tango/string quartet)\, performing separately and together. Sally (of The Travesties) will be writing a string quartet arrangement for a Travesties original song and Vanessa (of Canela) will be writing a full rock band arrangement for a Canela original – to be performed by both bands together! \n  \nBuffalo-based folk rock band The Travesties breathe fire into folk songs old and new\, including a treasure trove of Americana and Irish music. Songwriter Tyler Bagwell is a historian with a busker’s voice in search of couplets within the notion that “history rhymes.” Fiddler Sally Schaefer is an ethnomusicologist with wide-ranging folk and traditional music interests. Together\, with bassist Patrick Jackson of Folkfaces and drummer Marc Smith of BTPM The Bridge\, they invent and reinvent songs highlighting events\, people\, and places of local and national note. \n  \nCANELA is not your ordinary quartet. Augmented by bass and percussion\, we take a fresh look at what a string ensemble can accomplish and communicate when traditional boundaries of genre and style are reimagined. \n  \nSince 2007 The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low-cost live performance\, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians\, students\, and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo thousands of students\, dozens of local bands\, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture. The Big Easy in Buffalo is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Hochul and the NYS Legislature\, Erie County\, Goldfarb Financial\, Erie County Legislator Michael Kooshoian\, Buffalo.FM\, Dick & Jenny’s\, National Fuel Gas Co.\, and Sportsmen’s Tavern. \n  \nCover poster by S Schaefer\, featuring public domain art “The Old Violin” by John Frederick Peto (c. 1890).

SUMMARY:John Gallagher Jr\, w/Casual Male & Zach Jones & The Tricky Bits - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nJohn Gallagher Jr\, \nw/Casual Male & Zach Jones & The Tricky Bits \nSunday\, April 26\, 2026 7pm \n$20ad/$25door \n \n  \n \nJohn Gallagher Jr. is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter who has been seen on stage and screens both small and large. \n\n\n\n\nNotable film and TV roles include The Newsroom\, Short Term 12\, 10 Cloverfield Lane\, and Hush. He won a Tony Award for his performance in Duncan Sheik’s hit musical Spring Awakening\, portrayed the Jesus of Suburbia in the Broadway adaptation of Green Day’s Grammy winning rock opera American Idiot\, and most recently starred in Swept Away – a new musical featuring songs by The Avett Brothers. But when it comes to his music\, that’s a bit more personal.  \nBorn in the Small Wonder to folk musicians\, John wrote his first song at the ripe age of 5. Rather\, just the chorus\, as he would earnestly admit to his listeners today. In the years between he has played in a half-dozen bands ranging from roots rock to pop punk. He gigs most often as a solo performer\, wielding his Gibson J-45 and red lightning bolt strap. Taking inspiration from Prine\, Costello\, Springsteen\, Westerberg and Schlesinger – his music is raw\, honest\, and heartfelt. Emo folk rock\, if you will. \n“Write what you know – I don’t go for that\,” John joked while sharing his latest crop of songs at Rockwood Music Hall – the venue on NYCs Lower East Side that has hosted him since 2006 and released his debut album Six Day Hurricane (2016). The wry humor is par for the course at a Gallagher gig. Produced by guitarist Thad DeBrock\, this LP drew comparisons to the jangly Laurel Canyon guitars of The Byrds and the lean bar band dynamics of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Following the release\, John hit the road as an opening act for Anaïs Mitchell and Aaron Lee Tasjan.  \n2021 saw the online self release of 8th and Jane\, a short but sweet 8 song sophomore effort. It’s a fast and fierce postcard jammed with power pop rock and roll numbers\, smoothed out by several soul searching acoustic ballads. An almost tragicomic blend of the rootsy bravado and vulnerable heart-on-sleeve reflection that has become a staple of his music. \nJohn writes with an emphasis on the confessional\, cathartic\, and emotional. His third record\, Goodbye or Something\, was released on June 28th\, 2024 on the indie label Grand Phony Music. Tracked at Studio G Brooklyn and featuring Zach Jones\, Oscar Albis Rodriguez\, Chris Cubeta\, Hannah Winkler\, and Todd Caldwell\, it’s his most personal and profound LP to date. Goodbye or Something is a heart-wrenching and sometimes humorous reflection on lost love and the power of music\, familial bonds\, and a good meal to see us through.
