SUMMARY:Patrick Sweany - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nPatrick Sweany \nSunday\, July 12\, 2026 $20.00 + Online Fee \n2pm Doors\, 4pm Showtime \n \n \n \nPATRICK SWEANY – BABY\, IT’S LATEThe title of Patrick Sweany’s new record is apt for more reasons than might be readily apparent. \nFor fans\, it’s a nod to the massive amount of time between full-length albums (7 years if you are counting). For Sweany\, it’s a theme that’s permeated his latest songs (running out of time\, getting older). \nThe time in between 2018’s Ancient Noiseand Baby\, It’s Latehas been full of changes for Sweany. Difficult changes. These mile-markers and their aftermath made it challenging for Sweany to do what he’s done for over 20 years: write songs\, record songs\, get in a van and play those songs for you. \nIt wasn’t as though Sweany’s music-making simply stopped\, however. As the world opened back up after the pandemic\, Sweany resumed his Blue Monday residency at The 5 Spot in E. Nashville playing 50’s and 60’s era Blues songs with The Tiger Beats: McKinley James\, Jason Smay\, and Ted Pecchio. He also started a new Soul\, Funk project called SUPER FELONwith JD Simo\, Adam Abrashoff\, Pecchioand Robbie Crowell. Most importantly\, he started writing and recording again. \nFor the first time\, Sweany chose to do almost everything himself\, recording tracks on his Tascam 388 tape machine in his Bongo Room home studio. While the end results were not quite good enough for public consumption\, the kernels of some great new songs were started\, and a less polished\, more organic approach was established. \nSweany decided to call on the collaborators in The Tiger Beats and SUPER FELON to help him progress. Using JD Simo’s House Of Greasestudio and McKinley James’ Red Lodgestudio\, Sweany brought in players from both of these projects. \n“These guys are some of the most in-demand players in Nashville\,” says Sweany about the sessions. “They know when it’s right and when it’s not. If they felt like these songs weren’t good enough\, they’d tell me. \n”“We tracked two days live\, no headphones\, band in the room\, old school style. It felt good. It felt right. The songs sounded like songs.Back in the saddle.” \nOn top of the old-school style of recording\, Sweany chose to produce the recordings himself – something he’d never done \nThe results are a raw\, more direct collection of songs that tap directly into the pain\, tension\, and catharsis of the past seven years. Stylistically they capture elements of Sweany’s previous recordings: the raw Blues-Rock opener “My Time Ain’t Long”could be an outtake from 2008’s Every Hour Is A Dollar Gone\, while the subtle ballads “Christmas Parade”and “See Through”are reminiscent of 2015’s ruminative Daytime Turned To Nighttime. Elsewhere\, however\, Sweany embraces some new influences such as the hooky rock anthem “Golden Fields”and the 70s organ funk groove of “Trouble With Love.” \nAfter over 25 years writing\, recording and touring\, Sweany knows more than most that you can’t rush the process. You have to wait until the songs are ready. In that regard\, Baby\, It’s Never Too Late.

SUMMARY:Sunny Sweeney wsg/ Kayla Ray- Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nSunny Sweeney \nwsg/ Kayla Ray \nWednesday\, July 29\, 2026 5pm Doors\, 7pm Show \n$25.00 \n \n \n \nFollowing your instincts is not as easy as Sunny Sweeney makes it look. A patron saint of broken hearts on the mend\, Sweeney comforts the rest of us by being honest with herself––and everybody else. She is her generation’s sly country conscience\, warm but stubborn\, sad but funny\, rowdy but thoughtful. \n“I am so glad I’ve been able to get this far in this business and still hold my music values\,” Sweeney says. “Being independent has given me the freedom to do more of what I want.” \nFor Sweeney\, doing what she wants has meant crafting smart honky tonk for about two decades. “I really do love country music\,” she says. “For me\, it’s the stories and hooks.” Her new album Rhinestone Requiemis a delectable testament to that love\, brimming with achingly pretty melodies and grown-up storytelling. It’s also an expertly assembled grab bag of the traditional song structures that have built country music\, one three-quarter whirl at a time. \nIf anyone has the bona fides to be country music’s loving\, defiant standard-bearer\, it’s Sweeney. In addition to releasing 5 critically acclaimed albums since her 2006 debut Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame\, she has become a trusted song curator and advocate for other artists as the host of her SiriusXM shows The Sunny Side of Life on Outlaw Country and Sunny Side Up on Willie’s Roadhouse. Sweeney keeps adding new feathers to her signature hat: She and her longtime guitarist Harley Husbands produced Rhinestone Requiem and are working as producers on additional projects. “We both have very strong points and very strong opinions\,” Sweeney says of Husbands with a laugh. “But we work very well together.” \nBorn in Houston and raised in East Texas\, Sweeney made her home the road before settling down in the hills of Hendersonville\, Tennessee\, a couple of years ago. The release of Rhinestone Requiem represents another milestone. “This is the first time I’ve made a record when I don’t have relationship problems\,” Sweeney says\, smiling. “My last album\, ‘Married Alone\,’ was made right after my divorce. I’ve lived some life. Not all of it’s been pretty. But I feel like that’s what makes really good music.” \nSweeney takes her calling as friend to the hurt and alone seriously––and Rhinestone Requiem shines because of it. Recorded at Tommy Detamore’s Cherry Ridge Studio in Floresville\, Texas\, the album is a compelling snapshot of an artist who knows who she is and what she loves. “I really wanted this album to be a mixture of all the old styles of country music: Jerry Lee Lewis\, Waylon Jennings\, Loretta Lynn\,” Sweeney says\, ticking off a list of some of her idols. “I make music for myself and hope other people like it.” \nIndeed\, the specter of Lewis looms large from the jump\, as the album kicks off with “Find It Where I Can\,” the sauntering\, boozy warning shot recorded by The Killer\, as well as other giants including Waylon Jennings. Sweeney discovered the song during a late-night YouTube deep dive into videos of Lewis and Mickey Gilley hammering away on dueling baby grands. “You know\, they’re cousins\, and their grandmother taught them how to play piano––that’s why their playing style is so similar!” Sweeney says\, relishing the backstory. “And when I heard this song\, I knew I had to record it. It’s not like anything else I have\, and it’s just so fun to sing and play.” \nJubilantly wry “Diamonds and Divorce Decrees” traces the ruins after a marriage ends\, cataloging the pain but looking stubbornly toward happiness. Sweeney has been playing the song live\, and has been struck by how strongly audiences have responded. “One night after we played it\, a guy came up to the stage and said\, ‘I have three days until my divorce is final\, and this song made me know everything is going to be fine\,’” Sweeney says. \nWritten with dear friend and frequent collaborator Brennen Leigh\, “Traveling On” is a superbly crafted heartbreaker showcasing the devastating power of Sweeney’s voice. Written with Ben Chapman and Erin Enderlin\, “Is Tonight the Night (I Make You a Memory)” starts off slow and sad\, before speeding up into a bouncy\, steel-laced shuffle worthy of The Mavericks. Another Enderlin and Sweeney collaboration with the addition of Gary Nicholson\, “I Drink Well with Others” is a winking dancehall duster\, while “As Long as There’s a Honky Tonk”––written with Buddy Owens and Galen Griffin––is a swaggering\, piano-soaked proclamation of independence. \nOne of only two album tracks Sweeney didn’t have a hand in writing\, “Last Hard Bible” nods to the whimsical grit of its writer and original recording artist\, Kasey Chambers\, as Sweeney steers the song firmly into saloon-worthy territory. Chambers and her brother\, Nash\, provide harmonies on Sweeney’s track. When Sweeney joins Chambers for shows in the summer of 2025\, it will mark a full-circle moment for Sweeney\, who is a longtime fan of the Australian singer-songwriter. \nWith crying steel\, “Waiting for a Reason to Stay” tearfully harnesses the potential of conversational songwriting. “I’ve always wondered what was wrong with me\,” Sweeney sings\, opening the song with gut-wrenching directness. What follows is a meditation on the days after you’ve decided to go––but haven’t left yet. “I’ve had records about the bad side of divorce\,” Sweeney says. “This is the light at the end of the tunnel.” Written with Owens and Monty Holmes\, album closer “Half Lit in 3/4 Time” is a masterclass in country songwriting\, as line after line pays tribute to honky tonk’s beloved instruments and golden standards. Featuring mournful fiddle\, “Houston Belongs to Me” already sounds like a classic\, as Sweeney’s resilient narrator lays claim to a hot\, complex city that she loves. “It’s healing: You’re taking ownership of where you are\,” Sweeney says. \nIt’s an idea Sweeney has embraced in various ways throughout her career: Lean into who and what you are––and revel in the liberation that brings. Her fierce independence has allowed her to speak to us with the care of a trusted confidant who sees our hurts and is rooting for us. “I feel like that’s what I grew up loving about music––I felt like I was their friend\,” Sweeney says. “I felt like they were talking––singing––to me.” \n \n \nDropping a needle on Kayla Ray’s music can feel a bit like driving down a sunbaked two-lane highway. You roll the windows down\, feel a sticky-warm breeze circling your hair and you let the soundtrack of real-life stories fuel every mile of the drive. \n \nAnd for Ray\, a rising country artist and songwriter\, that’s no accident. A native of Waco\, Texas\, Ray was baptized to the tune of Bob Wills and Tanya Tucker. She can recite Merle Haggard deep cuts without missing a beat and\, as a kid\, Ray often tuned into the Grand Ole Opry with her grandfather\, (by whom she was raised) who built a makeshift antenna to ensure the family picked up a long-distance AM signal from faraway Nashville\, Tennessee. \n \nShe’s spent her early years cutting her teeth in the industry\, studying the rules of the road with country music’s Gimble family (Dick and Emily\, the son and granddaughter of Country Music Hall of Famer Johnny Gimble) before tour managing for honky-tonk staple Jason Eady. In 2014\, she graduated from backstage to centerstage\, releasing her first all original album and touring the national independent circuit singing her songs – sprinkled with appreciation for the artists who helped raise her – Hank Williams\, Tom T. Hall and\, of course\, Loretta Lynn. \n \nmore info at https://kaylaraymusic.com/about/

SUMMARY:Fruition - Something More Tour - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nFruition – Something More Tour \nTuesday\, August 4\, 2026 5pm Doors\, 7pm Showtime \n$20.00ad + Online Fee\, $25.00 at the door \n \n \n \n \n\nFruition. Three songwriters. Five bandmates. More than 15 years together\, building a grassroots audience with a combination of stacked vocal harmonies and collaborative\, song-driven Americana. Fruition is proof that there’s strength in numbers. The bandʻs recent releases have showcased a reinvigorated group at the peak of its powers. This is American roots music at its broadest and boldest — a melting pot of rock\, soul\, folk\, and pop. What began as a busking string band has evolved into something more eclectic\, rooted not only in the unique delivery of three different singers\, but also the cohesion of five friends who prefer their music to be homegrown and honest… mistakes and all. “…there’s a brittle wisdom on this album\, a sense of having to piece oneself back together and finding strength in a shared voice\,” said Rolling Stone of their 2024 album\, How To Make Mistakes. You can expect more music and a new album later this year.

SUMMARY:Will Hoge - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \n \nWill Hoge \nTuesday\, September 22\, 2026 $30.00 + Online Fee \n5pm Doors\, Showtime Doors \n \n \n \nWill Hoge will release Sweet Misery\, the Grammy-nominated artist’s 15th studio album on Friday\, August 22. \nOn Sweet Misery\, Hoge reminds listeners that he isn’t afraid to break new ground – all while giving a keen nod to his rock and roll roots with the kind of grace and purpose that only comes with experience – without the baggage of predictability. \nIn Will’s own words – “Following the re-recording and re-releases of Carousel and Blackbird On A Lonely Wire I found myself really wanting to make a louder\, hooky\, rock-n-roll band record again. Good stories\, big choruses\, shit to make you play it loud and drive fast with the windows down. I was without a band so I enlisted a crew of folks who I love – folks that I believed could really help bring out the bigger ideas in the songs. I hope folks will find some headphones and give it a good\, loud listen. Top to bottom\, the way albums should be listened to.” \n \nWill Hoge has a career whose milestones include Number One hits\, Grammy nods\, major-label record deals\, and hard-won independence. Years before Americana music received its own category at the Grammy Awards\, Hoge was on the frontlines\, helping to pilot and popularize the genre’s blend of American roots music. In the current digital era dominated by influencers seeking shortcuts to stardom\, Will Hoge proudly treads the scenic route\, immersing himself in the journey rather than fixating on the destination.

SUMMARY:Dale Watson & His Lone Stars - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nDale Watson & His Lone Stars \nTuesday\, September 29\, 2026 5pm Doors\, 7pm Showtime \n$35.00+ Online Fee \n \njan 12\, 2026\, Dale Watson photographed in New York City\n \nDale Watson is a living legend of American roots music. With Texas-sized defiance and drive\, he’s spent four decades flying the flag for his own brand of honky-tonk\, outlaw country\, western swing\, and rockabilly. That signature sound has a name — “Ameripolitan” — and its originator is Watson himself: a singer\, songwriter\, guitarist\, producer\, actor\, cultural architect\, and rule-breaking traditionalist for the modern world\, championing the traditions that fly in the face of the homogenous mainstream. \n \nMore than 30 albums stand between Watson’s teenage years in Texas\, where he cut his teeth on Houston’s honky-tonk circuit\, and his latest release\, 2026’s Unwanted. That body of work hasn’t just brought him an international audience stretching from East Texas to Europe with TV appearances on major national platforms like PBS’s Austin City Limits\, Jimmy Kimmel Live!\, and The Late Show with David Letterman; it’s also cemented his reputation as a musical maverick who’s worthy of sharing the same stage as his heroes\, with shows alongside Merle Haggard\, Johnny Cash\, Willie Nelson\, and Kris Kristofferson. \n \nWith Unwanted\, he fires another double-barreled shotgun blast of country twang and honky-tonk bang. It’s a raw\, rowdy record\, recorded in Austin and Memphis — two cities that have always lived large in Watson’s history — and fueled by the heartaches\, hard-won lessons\, and high-speed thrills of a life largely logged on the road. Singing with a booming voice that could cut through the chaos of a packed dancehall\, Watson runs the show like a roots-rock ringleader. He salutes his vices on the galloping “Willie Waylon and Whiskey\,” reflects upon a lifetime of loss with the gorgeous ballad “If You Really Loved Me (Outlive Me)\,” and gets wistfully reflective on “Life is Like a Song.” Entirely written and produced by Watson\, Unwanted is the sound of an Ameripolitan diehard with plenty of life left in the tank\, speeding toward a horizon of his own making. \n \nIf the heart of American music beats loudest where tradition and innovation intersect\, then Dale Watson’s albums are the lifeblood of a sound that never dies.

Nicole was initially influenced by her parents playing in bands and working around the KC music scene. With her two brothers\, Nick and Kris\, they formed the “Heavy Blues” band Trampled Under Foot\, which found initial popularity in the Midwest\, then exploded worldwide for over 10 years. \n \nThere has been no shortage of praise; Guitar World stated\, “Danielle Nicole has won respect and admiration throughout the American blues scene for her soulful\, inventive playing and tireless work ethic.” Blues Music Magazine effused\, “Nicole brings it\, bakes it\, and serves it up blazing on a silver soul-rocking platter.” The Kansas City Star declared\, “Blues and soul vocalists tend to improve as they age. Bettye LaVette is among the artists who became increasingly believable as she matured. Danielle Nicole appears to be following in her footsteps.” \nDanielle embarked on her solo career with Wolf Den (2015)\, which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Blues charts and amassed 7.5 million Spotify streams. Cry No More (2018) followed\, the record was nominated for a Grammy in the contemporary blues category and debuted at number one in the Billboard Blues Charts – it also boasts over Spotify streams in excess of 10 million. DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nFred Eaglesmith \nSatruday\, October 10\, 2026 8pm \n$50.00 + Online Fee \n \nFRED EAGLESMITH \n& The Full Band \nFred Eaglesmith has played them all; from television’s The Late Show with David Letterman to the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville to the refined acoustics of the Lincoln Center\, but this fall\, Canada’s most uncompromising troubadour brings his whip-smart songwriting and road-tested show back to the very communites that inspired him. \nAnd you won’t want to miss it. \nThe Juno Award winning poet of rural Canada has spent four decades turning service station stories\, county fair romances\, broken down old tractors\, and gravel roads into timeless songs. His devoted fan base\, affectionately known as ‘Fred Heads’ and a reputation for delivering shows that are equal parts intimate and electrifying have established this founder of alt-country as the benchmark for his contemporaries as well as aspiring artists. Eaglesmith’s songs\, filled with wit\, heart\, and unvarnished truth have been covered by the likes of Alan Jackson\, Toby Keith\, Miranda Lambert and countless others. Over 120 artists from Bluegrass to Punk have recorded his popular tune\, “Alcohol & Pills.” His hit\, “Trucker Speed\,” has been named to the 100 Top Americana Songs of All Time and garnered over 60 million views with over 6 thousand independent videos having been created on Tik Tok. \n \nFor the last 15 years\,Eaglesmith has been joined by Texas-born\, multi-instrumentalist\, Tif Ginn\, who also happens to be his wife. Together they have developed a musical symbiosis that only comes from countless miles\, shared stages and an undenyable chemistry. And now with the addition of their band\, which includes their 16 year old\, 30 year old songs land like fresh revelations and new tunes take shape in real time. \n \nEaglesmith carries the weight of a legend lightly. After a lifetime of touring and 25 albums under his belt he’d have every right to rest on his laurels. Instead\, he’s doing what he’s always done: pointing the truck toward Canada’s backroads\, where the next great night of music waits to be sparked. His signature sound of country soul & rock energy with his between-song tales only he can tell- equally hilarious & heartbreaking\, make the Fred Eaglesmith Show unmatched. Fred doesn’t just perform in these small towns\, he plugs into their heartbeat-after all these years\, that’s still his superpower.

SUMMARY:Eilen Jewell - Sportsmens
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nEilen Jewell \nSunday\, November 22\, 2026 3pm Doors\, 5pm Showtime \n$30.00 + Online fee \n \n \n \n \nTwenty years of touring. Twenty years on the road. “My own weariness amazes me\,” as Bob Dylan sings to his Tambourine Man. I feel ya\, Bob. But the depth of my gratitude amazes me too. I’m humbled by the countless gifts of fanship and friendship throughout the past two decades. I would say it’s been a dream\, except I never could have dreamt up most of it. I’ve shared stages and drinks in hotel rooms with my heroes\, met children named after me\, made friendships rooted in music from Auckland to the Arctic Circle\, performed on trains\, on boats\, for Wall Street men in tuxes and for the muddy denizens of a musk ox farm… Not bad for a lonely rambler girl from Idaho. It was always a nebulous gut feeling that got the show on the road\, and so it is now but in reverse. A gut feeling is telling me to get off the road\, at least for now. After 2026\, touring and I will part ways for a year\, maybe two\, maybe fifty…it’s hard to say at this point. I do hope to keep performing in some capacity. Maybe come see me of a weeknight in some Boise dive\, playing for potatoes? Or strumming the guitar for a handful of fellow meditators as we contemplate the Dharma and the temporary nature of all things. I need some time for a new exploration\, to try to be the kind of mother I want to be\, and to stop moving long enough “to let my soul catch up with me\,” as my grandma Jeanne used to say. Who knows what will come of that? Maybe on some jingle-jangle morning I’ll come following the next great dream\, rested and ready to go anywhere. But until then\, suffice it to say…thank you. Thank you\, thank you to everyone who carried me forward all this way and in all your different ways. With love\, gratitude\, and solidarity in music always\, —Eilen
