Written and recorded in Hiatt’s new home just outside Nashville\, the collection grapples with growth and change\, escape and anxiety\, self-loathing and self-love. The songs are intensely vulnerable here\, full of diaristic snapshots and deeply personal ruminations\, but they’re also broad invitations to find yourself in Hiatt’s unflinching emotional excavations\, to see your own humanity reflected back in her pursuit of something larger than herself. Hiatt cut the album with her husband\, Coley Hinson\, who produced and played most of the instruments on the record\, and the result is a raw\, unvarnished work of love and trust that walks the line between alt-rock muscle and singer/songwriter sensitivity\, a bold\, guitar-driven\, at times psychedelic exploration of maturity and adulthood from an artist who wants you to know you’re not alone\, no matter how lost you may feel. \n  \n“I think of this album like a hand to hold\,” says Hiatt. “I wanted to open up the door and let people in on what I’ve been going through\, but I also hoped that by telling the truth about the joy and pain and love and grief I’ve experienced\, it might strike a chord with somebody else navigating their way through all those things\, too.” \n  \nBorn in Los Angeles and raised in Tennessee\, Hiatt first earned buzz with a pair of early solo records before breaking out with 2017’s Trinity Lane. Produced by Shovels & Rope’s Michael Trent\, the record helped Hiatt earn dates with the likes of John Prine\, Margo Price\, Drive-By Truckers\, and Hiss Golden Messenger in addition to festival slots everywhere from Pilgrimage to Luck Reunion. NPR called the album “courageous and affecting\,” while The Independent raved that it showcased Hiatt’s “gift for unpicking knotty lyrical themes in a personalised blend of countrified rock music\,” and Rolling Stone hailed it as “the most cohesive and declarative statement of the young songwriter’s career.” Hiatt delivered on the album’s promise with her similarly well-received 2020 follow-up\, Walking Proof\, and\, unable to tour due to the pandemic\, quickly returned to the studio again for 2021’s Lately\, which The Boston Herald said showcased her “knack for plainspoken\, poetic lyrics” and Uncut proclaimed to be “captivating.” \n  \nWhen it was finally time to get back on the road\, though\, Hiatt found herself feeling overwhelmed and bewildered. The world seemed to be changing faster than she could keep up with\, and rather than embracing what should have been her triumphant return\, Hiatt instead began retreating from everything she’d worked so hard to build. \n  \n“I fell in love\, got married\, adopted a dog\, all the things I’d always dreamed of doing\,” she reflects. “But I felt like an outsider watching myself stumble though it all\, just constantly critiquing myself to the point where I became so paralyzed I could hardly leave home.” \n  \nHiatt tried therapy and antidepressants\, talked to friends and family\, wrote dozens and dozens of songs about her feelings\, all in the hopes of quieting her racing mind. \n  \n“There was this intensity where I felt so jacked up all the time\,” she explains. “Eventually I just realized that my life was passing me by\, that the love I was living in required presence to accept. So I started doing the little things you have to do to show up for the people in your life: listen\, grow\, change. I learned to expand my world.” \n  \nHiatt left the bustle of Nashville for a more rural setting outside the city and scrapped all the material she’d been working on\, starting from scratch with Hinson in pursuit of something that would resonate more with the new chapter she was embarking upon. The pair worked quickly\, tackling the writing and recording of each song one-at-a-time from the ground up and sending the material off to Paul Kolderie (Radiohead\, Pixies) to mix as they finished it. \n  \n“Paul brought so much enthusiasm and dimension to the project\,” Hiatt explains. “Every time we had a song tracked\, we’d share it with him and then he’d get really excited about it\, which was really affirming and encouraged us to turn right around and get started on the next one.” \n  \nThat excitement is plain to hear on Forever\, which opens with the brawny “Hidden Day.” “I’m gonna find a place where no one needs nothin’ from me\,” Hiatt declares on the electrifying track\, which fantasizes about a secret 24 hours where the world stops tugging at your sleeve long enough to let you catch your breath. Like much of the album\, the song—which was written with Scot Sax and co-mixed by Jon Debaun—is grounded in concrete details from Hiatt’s personal life\, but it’s also a conversational tune rooted in intimacy between the singer and her audience: “I stumbled upon a day I wanna tell you about\,” she declares. “It’s our little secret\, you better keep it to yourself.” The breezy\, lo-fi “Ghost Ship” reminds us of the common ground we share no matter our superficial differences (“I’m looking for something\, and you are\, too”)\, while the driving “Shouldn’t Be” meditates on the universal need to stand in your beliefs without requiring the validation of others\, and the dreamy “Somewhere” longs to escape from the weight of judgment\, both internal and external. \n  \n“I’ve always been fascinated with escape in my writing\,” Hiatt reflects. “A lot of these songs like to imagine a moment or a place where you can become untethered from reality\, from the mundane\, from yourself. Sometimes just being with the person you love is all it takes. \n  \nIndeed\, the power of real and lasting love—how it can change you for the better and sustain you at your lowest—is woven into the very fabric of Forever.  The twangy “Man” revels in the security of knowing where you stand in a committed relationship; the playful “Kwik-E-Mart” celebrates the ordinary moments that take on new meaning when shared with a partner; and the blistering title track takes stock of what matters once you’ve found what you’ve been looking for. “I can be anyone out here\, but I can’t be in love / With a restaurant or a new haircut\,” Hiatt sings over a wall of fuzzed out guitars. “Nice to be a loner\, no one knows you’re hurt / But I wanna be by your side\, I wanna be by your side forever.” \n  \n“I wrote ‘Forever’ on tour in San Francisco after playing this festival where they put me and the band up in this amazing hotel\,” Hiatt recalls. “I couldn’t have been happier to be there\, and there was a time in my life when I would have wanted nothing more than to stay forever. But in that moment\, I realized the thing I was most excited about was getting back to my house and my dog and telling my husband all about it.” \n  \nUltimately\, that revelation is what Forever is all about. If you can slow down enough to live in the moment\, if you can quiet the outside world enough to hear to your own heart\, if you can blow away the haze and learn to see what’s right in front of you\, you just might find that reality is more beautiful than any dream.

DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nPatrick Sweany \nSunday\, July 12\, 2026 $20.00 + Online Fee \n2pm Doors\, 4pm Showtime \n \n  \n \nPATRICK SWEANY – BABY\, IT’S LATEThe title of Patrick Sweany’s new record is apt for more reasons than might be readily apparent. \nFor fans\, it’s a nod to the massive amount of time between full-length albums (7 years if you are counting). For Sweany\, it’s a theme that’s permeated his latest songs (running out of time\, getting older).  \nThe time in between 2018’s Ancient Noiseand Baby\, It’s Latehas been full of changes for Sweany. Difficult changes. These mile-markers and their aftermath made it challenging for Sweany to do what he’s done for over 20 years: write songs\, record songs\, get in a van and play those songs for you. \nIt wasn’t as though Sweany’s music-making simply stopped\, however. As the world opened back up after the pandemic\, Sweany resumed his Blue Monday residency at The 5 Spot in E. Nashville playing 50’s and 60’s era Blues songs with The Tiger Beats: McKinley James\, Jason Smay\, and Ted Pecchio. He also started a new Soul\, Funk project called SUPER FELONwith JD Simo\, Adam Abrashoff\, Pecchioand Robbie Crowell. Most importantly\, he started writing and recording again. \nFor the first time\, Sweany chose to do almost everything himself\, recording tracks on his Tascam 388 tape machine in his Bongo Room home studio. While the end results were not quite good enough for public consumption\, the kernels of some great new songs were started\, and a less polished\, more organic approach was established.  \nSweany decided to call on the collaborators in The Tiger Beats and SUPER FELON to help him progress. Using JD Simo’s House Of Greasestudio and McKinley James’ Red Lodgestudio\, Sweany brought in players from both of these projects. \n“These guys are some of the most in-demand players in Nashville\,” says Sweany about the sessions. “They know when it’s right and when it’s not. If they felt like these songs weren’t good enough\, they’d tell me. \n”“We tracked two days live\, no headphones\, band in the room\, old school style. It felt good. It felt right. The songs sounded like songs.Back in the saddle.”  \nOn top of the old-school style of recording\, Sweany chose to produce the recordings himself – something he’d never done \nThe results are a raw\, more direct collection of songs that tap directly into the pain\, tension\, and catharsis of the past seven years. Stylistically they capture elements of Sweany’s previous recordings: the raw Blues-Rock opener “My Time Ain’t Long”could be an outtake from 2008’s Every Hour Is A Dollar Gone\, while the subtle ballads “Christmas Parade”and “See Through”are reminiscent of 2015’s ruminative Daytime Turned To Nighttime. Elsewhere\, however\, Sweany embraces some new influences such as the hooky rock anthem “Golden Fields”and the 70s organ funk groove of “Trouble With Love.” \nAfter over 25 years writing\, recording and touring\, Sweany knows more than most that you can’t rush the process. DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens presents \nMagnolia Boulevard \nThursday\, April 23\, 2026 7pm \n$20.00 (+ Online fee) \n \nIf patience is a virtue\, then the current state of Magnolia Boulevard plays right into the long-held notion that sonic grandeur evolves in its own time and place — one where the Lexington\, Kentucky\, rock-n-soul act is aiming to break into a national audience ready and roaring for the quintet’s soaring talents. \n“Things happen when they’re supposed to happen\,” lead singer/guitarist Maggie Noelle says. “And I’m so proud of this music coming out now with this group of dudes — it’s like we’re finally getting what we kind of deserve.” \n“We know who we are now\, and we know what we want to do\,” adds keyboardist Ryan Allen. “We know what we want to sound like. Everybody involved is on the same path. We’ve got the same mission and we feel good about it. These songs have been cared for and thought about\, where everything is happening with intention — there’s purpose behind the music.” \nThat mission of luminous tone and honest intent is no more apparent than Magnolia Boulevard’s latest self-titled album. Captured by legendary Kentucky producer Duane Lundy\, the eight-song LP runs the gamut of genres\, all with thick threads of the blues and soul radiating from the tracks. \n“We like a lot of different things\, so let’s start a band that’s blues and soul\, the rest being whatever else we feel like adding\,” Allen says. “These are songs and stories of the struggles of Appalachian people\, these little snapshots of time of what it’s like to live around here.” \n“Inspiration comes and goes\,” Noelle adds. “I’ve realized\, in these later years of songwriting\, I tend to write about my current life and where my heart is.” \nFormed in 2017 by Noelle and Allen\, the band came together when other creative endeavors weren’t fulfilling the artistic desires and professional expectations of what the duo were envisioning. It was time to push down the gas pedal on the possibility and potential of what Magnolia Boulevard could be\, and ultimately has become — in sonic design and in the live realm. \n  \n“The sound has been described as ‘Appalachian Soul\,’ and I really like that because of our Appalachian roots\,” Noelle says. “You get a taste of folk with the songwriting portion\, but you also have that rock and soul foundation.” \nWatching Noelle under the bright lights\, her stage presence immediately conjures whispers in the audience\, where her fiery vocal talents are compared to the likes of Susan Tedeschi\, Bonnie Raitt\, and Grace Potter. And yet\, Magnolia Boulevard remains unique and steadfast in its approach. \n  \nThe powerhouse group is rounded out by Roddy Puckett (bass)\, Austin Lewis (guitar) and Brandon Johnson (drums). With this bountiful lineup\, Magnolia Boulevard has been making the rounds around Southern Appalachia and beyond\, each show an opportunity to once again justify its reputation as one of the rising\, “must see” rock shows anywhere in the country. \n\n“It feels a lot better when it is the sum of all the parts\, when you have five people all going after the same thing\,” Allen says. “We’re not sacrificing or compromising anything\, and in a way that we maybe had before. It feels like we’re got something substantial here that we’re really proud of.” \n“Everybody in the band is also interpreting the lyrics and showing emotion\, because they’re into it\, too\,” Noelle adds. “They feel the same emotions\, and there’s something magic about it [when we’re playing].” \nAnd as Magnolia Boulevard grows and evolves into a national act\, the core essence and melodic attitude of the unit will proudly reside in the rich\, vibrant music scene of its native Lexington and greater Kentucky. \n“In Kentucky\, we’ve got a little bit of everything\, and we just have this real sense of community\,” Noelle says. “Everybody has always been supportive of each other’s projects\, no matter the genre\, and I think that’s important.” \n“There’s also this feeling of gratitude\,” Allen adds. “More and more\, I’ll just catch myself feeling really thankful for where we are. It comes from what we’ve gone through\, and being able to persevere through it — it makes it even better when you wind up on the other side.” \nWith the new record appearing on the horizon and an upcoming tour running up and down the East Coast\, what remains for Magnolia Boulevard is this deep\, renewed sense of purpose — one held and shared with any and all who happen to happily wander into their musical landscape. \n“Playing live is what we crave\,” Noelle says. “[Onstage]\, we escape to a place where we can all be free\, leaving fears and anxieties at the door\, forgetting yesterday’s troubles — it’s a form of therapy at this point to just lay it all out.” \n  \n\n“The first time I saw Maggie sing\, I knew we had a chance to reach a lot of people\,” Allen adds. “We’ve come a long way since that first rehearsal. Different band members. Broken down vans. Empty dive bars. The \ndebut 45 single “Party Line / Toxic” released late 2018 on Hi-Tide Recordings to immediate success.
