SUMMARY:The Outcrops - Sportsmens Stage
DESCRIPTION:The Outcrops  \nSaturday\, September 27\, 2025 8pm $10 \nout·crop /ˈoutˌkräp/ : an outstanding rock formation \n \nDeep in the woods of Northern New Jersey\, The Outcrops have emerged as a force to be reckoned with. This tight-knit group of musicians weaves together the soulful sounds of blues\, the infectious rhythms of funk and soul\, and the electrifying energy of rock’n’roll\, creating a sonic experience that had them named “Band of the Year” (Aquarian\, 2020). \n \nAt the core of The Outcrops are the dynamic duo of Bryan Schroeder and Cassidy Rain. Bryan\, with his searing lead guitar\, effortlessly weaves intricate melodies that fall somewhere between the soulful prowess of Derek Trucks and the transcendent vibes of Jerry Garcia. Cassidy brings real and raw powerhouse vocals that fans have compared to artists like Bonnie Raitt\, Susan Tedeschi\, & Grace Potter\, as well as her rhythmic guitar work that is in constant conversation with the band.  \n \nMax Adler\, a Montclair University music graduate\, found his home behind the drum kit\, driving the band’s infectious grooves. Qaasim Munoz holds it down on the bass guitar adding a unique flavor to the band’s sonic tapestry. \n \nThe Outcrops’ journey has been marked by milestones\, such as sharing the stage with acts like The Outlaws\, Three Dog Night\, Alexis P. Suter\, Kat Wright\, and King Solomon Hicks\, to gracing the lineups of festivals such as Rock\, Ribs\, & Ridges\, the Anglesea Blues Festival\, Musikfest\, and Meeting of the Minds. Their performance earned them 1st place in the 2nd Annual SOPAC Blues Challenge back in 2017. \n \nCASSIDY RAIN – LEAD VOCALS / RHYTHM GUITAR \nCassidy’s musical journey began before she can remember – she was singing and memorizing songs when she started talking. At the age of 5\, her parents got her a tape recorder that she used constantly to record songs she heard and sang. By the time she was 10 years old\, she had already started writing her own songs. At 14\, she picked up the acoustic guitar and it became her fondest companion; she took it everywhere with her – to school\, to the beach\, everywhere. Her guitars have their share of knicks and bruises from their adventures.  \n \n \nBRYAN SCHROEDER – LEAD GUITAR / BACKUP VOCALS \nBryan’s journey in music began early as well\, attending his Dad’s band’s shows from a very young age. There are photos of him and his cousin on stage with his Dad’s band\, toy guitars in hand. However\, Bryan’s first musical venture was in drumming\, and he played drums for years before learning to play guitar. He began to really hone in on the guitar when he moved to California and was able to spend hours playing every day. \n \nMAX ADLER – DRUMS / BACKUP VOCALS \nMax rounds out The Outcrops rhythm section with a fluid groove that carries the band along like the ebbs and flows of a river.  Like the great blues\, soul and rock bands of the 60’s and 70’s\, his style has a foundation in Jazz.  Max was a student of the Jazz program at Montclair State University in New Jersey and he uses his knowledge and skills to add flavors and dynamics\, imprinting his style on the band’s sound. \n \nQAASIM MUNOZ – BASS GUITAR \nQaasim\, otherwise known as “Q”\, adds a uniquely funky & jazzy style of playing to The Outcrops. Besides playing music\, Q is also a professional fine artist.

SUMMARY:Buckwheat Zydeco\, Jr. wsg. Ten Cent Howl
DESCRIPTION:Sportsmens & The Big Easy in Buffalo NOLA Series present \nBuckwheat Zydeco\, Jr. \nwsg. Ten Cent Howl \nThursday\, September 4\, 2025 7pm\, 5pm Doors \n$15ad/$20door \n \nBuckwheat Zydeco Jr.‘s story is one of musical inheritance\, hard work\, and dedication to preserving the spirit of zydeco music. From a young boy learning the craft of music by ear\, to becoming a Grammy-winning artist\, he continues to make his mark on the world stage. With his band and his son by his side\, he is ensuring that zydeco music will continue to inspire and uplift audiences for generations to come. Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. was born into a musical family in Lafayette\, Louisiana\, a city deeply rooted in the sounds of zydeco and Creole culture. His father\, Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural\, Sr.\, was a legendary figure in zydeco music\, and Buckwheat\, Jr. was immersed in music from a young age. \n Following the death of his father in 2016\, Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. assumed the mantle of his father’s musical legacy\, continuing to lead the Ils Sont Partis Band. This band\, which was originally formed by Stanley Dural\, Sr.\, is a tribute to the vibrant tradition of zydeco and remains a vital force in spreading the genre’s infectious rhythms worldwide. Buckwheat\, Jr. now performs with his father’s iconic custom monogrammed accordion and shares the stage with his son\, Kyle Anthony Dural\, who plays the rubboard. This family connection is deeply meaningful to Buckwheat\, Jr.\, who reflects\, “Everywhere I go\, my son is on my right. It really is a blessing.” \n Buckwheat Zydeco Jr.’s career has been marked by significant milestones\, both alongside his father and as a solo artist. He shared the stage with some of the most renowned figures in music\, including Eric Clapton\, Paul Simon\, Willie Nelson\, Mavis Staples\, Albert Collins\, Buddy Guy\, Dwight Yoakam\, and Los Lobos\, to name a few. Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. and The Ils Sont Partis Band won the 2024 Best Regional Roots Music Album – New Beginnings award at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards\, and also in 2024 got inducted at the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. \n Ten Cent Howl has been making waves in the Buffalo Americana scene for over two decades with their original music. The Howl is known for their riveting original songs as well as their extensive catalogue of cover songs ranging from folk to roots to country to classic rock. Ten Cent Howl can make you dance\, sing\, laugh and cry with their tremendous musicianship\, craftsmanship\, and harmony. “Sounding like they come from a simpler time\, unspoiled by the marvels of modern technology\, Ten Cent Howl offers a refreshing glimpse into rural American living through their vacillatingly uplifting and melancholy songs\, many of which are about love lost and found.” – Amy Lieberman – NYSMusic.com \n Since 2007 The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low-cost live performance\, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians\, students\, and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo thousands of students\, dozens of local bands\, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture. The Big Easy in Buffalo is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Hochul and the NYS Legislature\, Erie County\, buffalo.fm\, Goldfarb Financial\, National Fuel Gas Co.\, Dick & Jenny’s\, and Sportsmen’s Tavern.
