Cody Blackbird is a three-time Native American Music Award (Native GRAMMY) winning artist. Starting out his career as a traditional singer and native flutist, Cody was the youngest in the history of Native music to ever win the Flutist of the Year award at the NAMMY awards in 2011 at the age of 22 years old.
Today Cody combines his flute and vocal talents with his band The Cody Blackbird Band, performing both instrumental music and original compositions with powerful songs of movement change and realities of life to take the listener on a positive journey. They call their styling’s “AlterNative Fusion”.

Featured on PBS, NBC, WGN, MSNBC, CNN, and the New York Times, Cody has performed over 1000 performances in hundreds of communities across this nation as well as internationally to Australia! Cody’s music has a vast broad span of listeners and supporters and through his works and travels he has shared the bill with legends that have changed music throughout decades in both mainstream and underground industries, Including Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary, Arlo Guthrie, Lynyrd Skynryd’s Rickey Medlocke, Keith Secola, Mark Slaughter, Buffy St. Marie, Nahko Bear and the legendary Redbone among many others.

Cody has been recognized as one of the top performers touring in Indian Country today, not only sharing his moving music but speaking to youth and communities on such topics as Suicide prevention, Goal setting, Breaking down stereotypes, roundhouse discussions with youth on youth empowerment within communities promoting change starting with ones self and broadening out from their to encourage everyone that they can make a difference and be the change they want to see.
